Halloween Baby

Today is a very special day for me. For as long as I can remember, October 31 was not just a day to dress up and go trick-or-treating, it was a day our family would get together and celebrate my father’s birthday. Yes, my dad was born on Halloween and today, on this final day of October in the year 2023, he would have been 100 years old.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what I might do to celebrate this day. Do I watch his favorite movie, Casablanca? Do I order a chile relleno from Cactus? Do I bake a chocolate raspberry cake?  Perhaps... but what I really want to do is honor him by doing something that will last far longer than just one day. I want to do something that would make him proud.

What I have decided to do is something that I have been putting off for a very long time. I’m going face my fears, confront my demons, stare into the face of my adversary and.... start a blog.

There you have it. My first blog post. The first of many.
